Quina is the author of If Hurricanes Were Flowers, a novel-in-verse featuring poetry that spans cultures and continents. Through fantasy and suspense woven together with a thread of faith, readers are invited to explore themes of identity, migration, and belonging. If Hurricanes Were Flowers makes reading more accessible through shorter, engaging text, while offering an interactive poetry guide appendix that turns readers into writers.
Quina is also the author of the children’s book trilogy: Love Made, Love Gave, and Love Can, which poetically retell the storyline of Scripture through a Trinitarian lens of love.
Her first trade book (for grown ups) is titled Love Has a Story: 100 Meditations on the Enduring Love of God, inviting readers to see God’s love through Scripture’s story and their own. This book also features Quina’s personal story through over 40 of her poems. It’s biblical theology meets story work meets open mic night.
Quina has also contributed chapters to various books and Bible studies, including His Testimonies, My Heritage: Women of Color on the Word of God (Kristie Anyabwile), Lost and Found: How Jesus Helped Us Discover Our True Selves (Collin Hansen), The Weary World Rejoices: Daily Devotionals for Advent (Melissa Kruger), Advent: Living Hope (Christianity Today), and The Gospel Project (Adults – Winter 2019).
Her writing is also featured in Walter R. Strickland’s Swing Low, Volume 2: An Anthology of Black Christianity in the United States.
